Dear Parents/Carers

Further to the letter sent on Monday evening, following the Prime Minister’s announcement that schools will remain closed until February half-term, I am writing to update you on the remote learning that went live on Wednesday 6th January. You will have also received a call from the teaching team last week to share the key information.

As a school we have been working hard to prepare ourselves to ensure that we have been able to offer a remote learning curriculum. These are challenging times for everyone and I ask that you remain patient with us during this time. As always, all staff are working tremendously hard to ensure that all Bierton pupils continue their learning whilst isolating at home.

Teachers will set a PE lesson for pupils. We are organising for a recording or live PE lesson to be led during offline learning – more information to follow.

Y4 Music Lessons

Y4 Teachers will share the time/recording of the remote music lesson, which will continue to be taught by the Music Service.

Assemblies

All pupils will receive daily assemblies at 12:00pm – 12:15pm. Assemblies will be delivered by class teachers and SLT.

After-school and Friday afternoon Intervention Sessions

Teachers and Teaching Assistants will continue to deliver the after-school and Friday afternoon interventions at the normal time in a live lesson via MS Teams to ensure your child does not miss out on these sessions.

Resources for learning at home

We are currently in the process of organising a pack for your child that can be collected from the school office that will in include an exercise book and pencil.

Welfare Calls

Pupil wellbeing is incredibly important to us so we will be making a weekly phone call to speak with pupils and share any key messages with parents. Please note this call is likely to come up as a withheld number; your child’s class Teaching Assistant will give you a regular day to expect this call so you know the withheld number is likely to be Starbank School.

During the school closure:

  • Vulnerable pupils (including pupils with EHCP) and critical keyworker children should attend school during this period – these pupils will access the same remote learning as pupils learning from home.
  • Any vulnerable pupils who choose to access remote learning will receive regular calls from members of SLT, FACE Team or Learning Mentor.
  • High SEND need pupils will receive a weekly call from Mrs Perry.
  • Every pupil will receive a weekly call from their class TA or Learning

Devices and Laptops

We appreciate families will have heard the DfE announcement that schools can apply for digital devices for disadvantaged pupils. Please be aware that there is a stringent criteria and demand is very high. We will make sure to contact families when we receive a response from the DfE.

Yours sincerely,

Miss H. Rifat

Associate Principal
