I feel an enormous sense of privilege in having the opportunity to lead Starbank School.

Starbank is a hugely exciting place to be. It is a school that is committed to achieving the highest quality learning experience for all of its students and to achieving the best possible outcomes for all. An environment where students are taught to think by teachers who inspire them, where individuals are valued and helped to achieve their personal best.

Crucial to our success is the unlocking of personal as well as academic potential to grow character and a core set of values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours. Our standards are high and expectations clear and as such we pride ourselves on making a difference to the lives of our young people.

Our school is committed to the highest standards in protecting and safeguarding the children entrusted to our care.

Our school will support all children by:

  • Promoting a caring , safe and positive environment
  • Encouraging self-esteem and self-assertiveness
  • Effectively tackling bullying and harassment

We recognise that some children may be the victims of neglect, physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Staff working with children are well placed to identify such abuse.

At our school in order to protect our children, we aim to:

  • Create an atmosphere where all our children feel secure, valued and listened to
  • Recognise signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Respond quickly, appropriately and effectively to cases of suspected abuse

If you think that your child may have a special educational need or/and a disability we would want you to share your concern firstly with your child’s class teacher.  At that meeting you and the class teacher may decide that you would also like to consult the Special Educational Needs team.

  • Starbank Road – Miss Burley
  • Bierton Road / Hob Moor Road Primary – Mrs Perry
  • Hob Moor Road Secondary – Mr Smedmore

We are very happy to meet with parents of new children to discuss their child’s additional need/s so that we can be sure that we have everything that we can do in place when they arrive to help your child settle well, with the best support we can offer. If you would like to talk to the SENCO or arrange to meet with one of them, please phone the school office 0121 464 2638 to arrange an appointment.
