Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you are all safe and well.  The academic year 2019/20 has been a year like no other, but we have been impressed with everyone’s resilience, coping so well with the challenging changes forced upon us, which makes us proud of our school community.  Thank you for your continued support and understanding throughout these unprecedented times.

School opening in September

In line with the government’s advice, we are currently working diligently to put in place arrangements so that all pupils can safely return to school on Wednesday, 2nd September.  You will be aware that government advice is changing on an almost daily basis, and given this it would be unwise to try and put in place and share finalised arrangements so far in advance of the start of term.  Further details concerning the arrangements for re-opening for all pupils will therefore be sent to parents near the end of August, with the school’s re-opening plan and risk assessments being presented to the Governing Body/Star Trust for comment and approval during August.

The aim is to return all pupils as far as possible to school normality.  The school is looking to reduce as far as possible movement around the site and to achieve this, where possible, during the day pupils will remain within their own designated rooms and play areas.  Start and departure times as well as break and lunch are likely to be staggered.  At this stage we can confirm that all pupils will also be required to wear school uniform, and we will be offering a “grab and go” food service.

Transition

Whilst we would have wanted your child’s new class teacher and teaching assistant to have met your child before the summer break, we have an exciting alternative.  Please see the class profile for your child’s new class.  https://www.starbankschool.co.uk/primary/all-about-class/.  Please note the school start and end times are provisional.

Summer Holiday Provision

Over the summer we are asking our pupils to complete some homework so they are ready for September.  Please ensure your child completes their home learning activities that can be found on the school website and spends time learning their times tables, year group spellings and reading for pleasure. To access the homework packs, please visit: https://www.starbankschool.co.uk/primary-summer-online-learning/

Finally, may we take this opportunity to wish our families an enjoyable school summer holiday.  Eid Mubarak also to all our families who will be celebrating Eid at the end of this month.

Yours sincerely,

Mr N.Riaz, Mrs N.Malhi and Mrs S.Portlock
(Deputy Headteachers)
