Task: Expressive Arts & Design

Design and make a boat using different household objects e.g. yoghurt pots, foil, cardboard box, food containers. Does your boat float or sink? Experiment using different materials to design a boat that floats in the bath or sink.

Literacy:

The night pirates are on the lookout for more treasure. They have heard you might have some in your house. What treasure could they find? Perhaps they might want to play with your favourite toy! Can you draw a picture of your treasure and write a sentence about it? If it sounds exciting, the pirates might just come and visit!

Literacy:

The pirates are on their way as they sail across the night sky! The only thing is… they don’t know where to find the treasure. You need to create your own treasure map! Can you draw a map of your house and put a X where the treasure is hidden? Remember to label your map so the pirates know where to go. Can you write some instructions so they know how to find the treasure?

E.g.

  1. Go in the front door.
  2. Creep up the stairs.
  3. Sneak into my bedroom.
  4. Look under the bed.

5. Quietly open the box!

Buried Treasure– Phase 3 (click Phase 3 and choose either air, ear, ure or igh. Practise reading the trigraphs in real and alien words)

Literacy:

The pirates have loved sneaking around your house. They now want you to join them on a new adventure! You need to transform yourself into a pirate before you can go on the pirate ship. Draw a picture of you as a pirate and give yourself a new name. Can you write some sentences to describe what kind of pirate you will be? E.g. I am strong and brave. I can be quiet and sneaky. I can use a map to find the treasure’.

Disaster! The pirate ship has been sunk by the grown-up pirates! The night pirates need your help to design a new ship so they can sail the seven seas once again. Here are some ideas to help you click here Give your ship a name and label the key features. E.g sail, wheel, flag, ladder, anchor

Can you write some sentences to describe your ship? E.g. The ship is large and strong. It has huge sails and a heavy anchor.
