End by listening to the story of ‘Peter and the Wolf’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ueGfjBKbiE How have the instruments been used throughout the story? Which instruments have been used to represent each character?

Task: Computing

Discuss and carry out a fun activity with your brothers/sisters and parents: What is a bug/ insect? Name a bug! Now name an insect! Now grab your iPad or cameras. If you don’t have one available- you could ask a grownup if it is okay for you to use their camera/phone. Next, go to your garden and take pictures of any bugs/insects you find. If you can’t find any in your garden- what about pictures of bugs/ insects around your house? If there aren’t any pictures around your house then can you carry out research and see how many different bugs/insects you can find on the internet- then instead of taking pictures you could copy and paste the images on a Microsoft word document. Have a competition between yourselves and your brothers/sisters- let’s see who finds the most bugs/insects!

Wednesday

English:

We use conjunctions to join clauses together and explain our ideas.

What conjunctions can you remember? List them.

Practise writing sentences using the conjunctions when, if, that, because, and, or, but, so. Don’t forget capital letters and full stops. Can the conjunction be used in different places in your sentence?

E.g. When it is dinner time we need to wash our bands.

We need to wash our hands when it is dinner time.

You are researchers- use the internet to research about the religion of Christianity. You can go on different websites, can watch videos, read stories linked to Christianity and ask your parents in order to carry out your research. (Make sure you make notes!) Consider: What is Christianity? What are the symbols that represent Christianity?

What makes a person Christian? Do they have key festivals? What is the purpose of those festivals? Why do they celebrate them? Do they have a special day every week? What do they do on that special day? Why?

Now make a poster about Christianity- you could draw a person who is a Christian and can write things in their perspective all around them i.e. I wear a…. I go to…. Every week etc… Or you can have the title in the middle and draw pictures linked to Christianity, including facts about Christianity around the title

Friday

English:

Order the photographs of your activities from yesterday and stick them on some paper. If you drew pictures, make sure they are in order.

What time adverbials can you add to your map? What conjunctions can you add? Practise writing sentences on your map using time adverbials and conjunctions.

Remember to write in past tense.

E.g. First, I brushed my teeth and went downstairs because my Mum was calling me.

Eventually, my Dad said that if we were good we could have a treat.

Topic: Music

Research the meaning of the musical term ‘pitch’ and ‘tempo’ (how fast or slow).

Log on to Purple Mash and type ‘2Sequence’ in the search box. Read the ‘2Sequence Guide’ and then open the program to create your own musical sequence. Try creating a sequence with: a slow tempo, then a fast tempo. Afterwards create a sequence with a fast or slow tempo, plus a mixture of high and low pitch. Don’t forget to save your work!

Try the questions by clicking on the box that says:

Task: PSHE

Sit together with your family or just mum/dad and discuss:

Answer this question: What is the same about boys and girls? (think about what both boys and girls can do- think about your class experiences)

Next, make a list of what you think only boys can do.

Now, make a list of what you think only girls can do

(Important note for parents- after the chn have made a list- challenge any stereotypes they may have by asking them questions based on their lists like: okay so you are saying only boys can play football- why can’t girls play football? Then give them examples of girls playing football/bodybuilding or racing etc… to help them understand- you could use Olympics participants as examples or your own experiences).
