I hope that you and your family have had a restful and enjoyable half term break.  The Summer Assessment process starts from Monday 13 June for all students in Year 7- Year 10.

Please find attached the for assessments for Year 10 students.  These assessments will take place in the examination hall under full examination conditions and for students in Year 10 this is the first time they will practice sitting assessments in this manor to better prepare them for their important GCSE examinations this time next year.  Your child will be issued with a paper copy of this assessment timetable, please put this in a prominent place so that you can ensure that they are prepared and aware of the schedule of assessments.

For students in Year7-Year 9 assessments will take place in classrooms during normal scheduled lessons.  These assessments are still very important and the outcomes will be used to inform setting for the next academic year.  This is of particular significance for Year 9 students who will be moving on to begin their key stage 4 course of study and GCSE specifications.

It is important that students spend time revising and preparing for assessments, to do this, they should be spending at least 1-2 hours per night revising. Your child’s teachers will have provided a list of topics and content to revise, and all students should make sure that they have all necessary exercise books/notes and knowledge organisers to hand to revise effectively.

Equipment is very important every school day.  There is a list of required school equipment in your child’s planner.  Each day your child has an assessment they must ensure that they come to school properly equipped, and this includes the relevant equipment such as calculators for the subject/s being assessed.

Your child’s Summer Report Card will be distributed on Friday, 8 July 2022. It will include a summary of your child’s attitude to classwork, homework, and behavior, as well as forecast grades in each of subject.

Should you have any questions regarding the assessment process, please contact the school.

Yours sincerely,

Mr P Horner
Senior Vice Principal
