Thank you all for the wonderful support you are giving your children during these testing times. You are making a huge difference by helping them to continue their learning at home.
I am writing to announce an exciting competition that is open to all Key Stage 2 pupils (Year 3 to Year 6) across the Star Academies family of schools: Operation: Out of this world.
We are encouraging pupils to learn about the wonders of space travel and discovery. Your child’s approach to the competition can take any form and I have every confidence that, with your encouragement, they will produce some inspiring creations. More information, including a leaflet, can be found at: www.staracademies.org/news-story/star-challenges/.
We will review all entries and shortlist two of our children’s work to be submitted into the national final, where their work will be judged alongside pupils from other Star schools across the country. We are excited to announce that Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut in space, will be judging our overall winners for this project. The top three entries will all be awarded a prize. Please see the leaflet on our website for more information. Please take photos of your child’s completed entry and send them by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline for entries is midday on Friday 19th June. Please ensure that the submission includes your child’s name, year group and, if applicable, the name of their class.
We intend to share a selection of the entries online, so please note that by entering the competition, you are giving permission for your child’s work to be published on the Star website and social media accounts along with their name and school. I hope that you and your family stay safe and well.
Thank you again for your support and partnership, which are greatly appreciated.
