Y11: Assessment Week
Year 11 students are scheduled to undertake a two-week period of assessments. They will take exams in all of their GCSE subjects with the exception of GCSE English which has already been completed. The assessment window will start from Monday 28th September in all their GCSE subjects.
Assessments are opportunities to continually evaluate children’s knowledge, skills and understanding. It also entails establishing what children can do, and what their next learning steps ought to be. Assessment is at the very heart of the learning process; it provides valuable evidence to guide and improve the teaching and learning. Furthermore, it also offers an opportunity for children to demonstrate and review their progress over the course of a period of time. All in all, it is an integral part of our relentlessly ambitious, high expectations culture.
These assessments are all classroom based and won’t impact on your child’s normal timetable in any way. Teachers will continue to give preparation guidance for these assessments during lessons this week, and via Microsoft Teams/MS Teams.
Additionally, all pupils will be given a paper booklet in both maths and science this week.
Can you ensure that your child works through their maths and science booklets silently for 30 minutes every day. This daily 30 minutes’ silent revision will help your child achieve a higher GCSE grade. #WeAreStar.
