Year 6/7 Transition 2021

Support for students with their transition
between Primary and Secondary

Introduction from Gaetano Ferrante

Dear Parent/Carer

I am delighted to be able to write to you to congratulate you on securing a place for your child at Starbank Secondary School from September 2021.

A successful transition is vital in supporting all children in adapting to life in a secondary school and despite the current national crisis we want to assure you that transition to our school will be as smooth as possible.

I now consider you and your son/daughter as part of the Starbank Secondary School family and we will all aim to support you in whatever way we can. I and all staff are very much looking forward to meeting you all in September. Unfortunately, as you know we are unable to have your son/daughter in school for their normal induction day so we have moved our transition to the website.

In the meantime, so we can have everything ready for the start of September, please complete all of the consent forms and school/parent agreements included within the pack you have received and return to Ms Amarjit Bhogal at the Hob Moor Road office. It is important that all sections of the pupil information consent pack are completed accurately. Once submitted, if any of the information changes, please let us know as soon as possible so our records are kept updated.

I also want to bring to your attention that all year 7 will begin in September in the new Star uniform. The information for this is provided in the induction pack. This uniform is provided by Stevensons retailer.

I will look forward to working with you closely in the near future, to ensure that your child realises their ambition and potential. Should you have any questions, in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us at school. Miss Hannah Martin and Ms Kirran Qureshi will be able to help with the majority of queries.

I am delighted to have your child join us and look forward to meeting you all in the future.

Yours faithfully

Mr Gaetano Ferrante
Principal

Introduction from Year 7 Head of Year

Hello,

I am Mrs. Qureshi and I am your Year 7 Head of Year.

I hope that you and your families are well in this uncertain time.

I know how difficult it must be especially now as you would have been preparing for transition with help of your primary school teachers.

Myself – your head of year, Miss Martin – your SLT lead, and your Year 7 form tutors are all looking forward to meeting you all in September and I hope that you are all
excited about coming to Starback secondary.

We will all be here to support you on your new journey at Starbank school.

We hope to see you soon.

Ms Qureshi
Head of Year 7

Introduction from SLT Link

Hello Year 6, I hope that you are well and enjoying the Summer Term.

My name is Miss Martin and I’m Assistant Principal here at Starbank. At Starbank each year group has an assigned Senior Leader who works closely with students on everything that they do here, including progress, behaviour and attendance.

It is an honour to be able to introduce myself to you as your SLT link and I cannot wait to support you in reaching your full potential from your very first day.
When you begin with us in September it is of huge importance that you continue to embody our Star values as I’m sure you will have done in primary school. It is paramount that you attend school each and every day and that you do your best to shine in every single lesson.

I am so looking forward to getting to know you and supporting you in becoming honourable citizens throughout the next part of your education.
See you very soon and take care.

Miss Martin
Assistant Principal
