19th March 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 11

You will all be feeling very confused and distressed by the recent announcement on final GCSE summer examinations.  To be clear, your son or daughter will not be taking any further examinations this year.

The government has yet to confirm how they will assign grades but I am sure they will work closely with us in reaching any decision. The government is clear that no child should suffer any detriment as a result of this arrangement. As there is no longer any useful work to be done in school we are sending your child home at the end of today.  They do not need to attend school on Friday 20th March. We will stay in contact with you over the coming weeks as we understand more about the process of grade awarding.

Your child will continue to be able to access information over the website and have contact with their teachers through email for the remainder of the year.  We will, over the coming weeks, be placing resources that will help transition to post 16 courses on the website. Please encourage your child/children to look regularly at the school website and let us know if there is other support we could provide.

We are working in unprecedented times.  Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely

Mr. G Ferrante
Secondary Headteacher
