Celebrations are underway at Starbank School after pupils received their GCSE results.

School staff and parents have today been celebrating with pupils as they graduate from the secondary school and take the next steps in their education or training.

Amongst the school’s many high achieving pupils is Amatoullah Habouchi, who was awarded the highest grade 9s in English Language, French and Art and Design. She also achieved grade 8s in Mathematics, History and Religious Education, a grade 7 in English Literature and a grade 6 in Spanish. She will be going on to study A Levels in Mathematics, Physics, French and Computer Science or Chemistry. Amatoullah exclaimed:

“I am so happy! I feel very blessed to have had the love of my family and friends, and the invaluable support of all of my teachers this year. Never give up and always work hard!”

Starbank School’s Head Boy, Rafi Hassan’s hard work paid off after he secured a grade 9 in English Literature, three grade 8s and two grade 7s. He will be going on to study A Levels in History, Politics and Psychology. Reflecting on his impressive results, Rafi said:

“I am delighted that all the hard work and the support of my teachers has paid off! These have been such difficult and disruptive few years. It is really humbling to get through it and achieve such fantastic grades.”

Haleema Rafiq, the school’s Head Girl, was rewarded for her fantastic efforts with a grade 5s in English Language, English Literature, Maths and Spanish. Haleema, who won of the Inspirational Learner of the Year award at Star Academies’ national Star Awards earlier this year, now plans to study science at college. Haleema commented on her achievements:

“With everything all young people have been through, and the harsher grading this summer compared to last year, these grades mean so much more this year. It is not just exams that I have passed – I have also learnt lifelong lessons on resilience, positivity, and optimism too.”

Gaetano Ferrante, Principal at Starbank School, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted for all our pupils. They have worked so hard to achieve such fantastic GCSE results. I would also like to thank our exceptional staff and supportive parents who have played an integral role in nurturing our pupils’ success. I wish all our pupils the best of luck in their future endeavours.”
